In the few years since its release, the game formerly known as PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds has managed to become one of the most popular mobile titles in the world. PUBG Mobile is the smartphone and tablet version of PUBG: Battlegrounds, a battle royale game partially based on a cult Japanese film released in the year 2000. PUBG Mobile is part of a video game universe that aims to publish digital entertainment content across a variety of platforms, and it has been quite successful since Chinese publisher Tencent Games announced it in 2008. There is no fully dedicated PUBG Mobile version for Windows; this article will explain how to play it on a desktop or laptop computer.

The PUBG Mobile Concept

In the dystopic PUBG Universe, players are invited to a remote island in order to participate in a shooting war against all others; it is a deadly game of battle royale in which there can only be one winner, and that is the last player standing. Getting to the island involves parachuting down with limited weapons and ammunition. Once players land, the island becomes a free-for-all, and there is a mysterious blue boundary line that separates safe areas from the battleground, but staying in the safe areas away from the fighting actually diminishes the health of players.

Similar to the original PUBG desktop versions, PUBG Mobile supports single-player mode as well as two and four-player teams. As can be expected from a mobile game, the graphics and gameplay mechanics are subdued and scaled down when compared to the desktop version, but this does not take away from the overall fun. To a certain extent, PUBG Mobile is even more exciting, and this has a lot to do with certain features such as playing with map and compass, recruiting team members, and completing small missions to improve your overall standing in the global leaderboards.

Emulating PUBG Mobile for Windows

Even though the original PC version of PUBG: Battlegrounds is a AAA video game title, quite a few players prefer PUBG Mobile because they feel it is more fun. This explains why millions of PUBG Mobile fans prefer to play on their Windows computers through emulation platforms. The reality is that a high-end smartphone or tablet would provide a better PUBG Mobile experience, but this is not always the case for all players.

While you can always download and install established Android emulators such as BlueStacks for your PC, Tencent Games has made things easier for PUBG fans with a dedicated emulator. When you download PUBG Mobile for Windows, you are in fact getting a full emulator stack and licensed APK of the game. Without a doubt, this is a better solution than BlueStacks and other emulators because Tencent has done a great job. PUBG Mobile for Windows will take advantage of all available computing resources, and this results in improved performance.

PUBG Mobile for Windows Pros

  • Android emulator is included.
  • Free to install and play.
  • Full support for keyboard and mouse.

PUBG Mobile for Windows Cons

  • The emulator can drag down PC performance.
  • Too many pay-for-play offers.
